Here are the key parameters of our cements and fly ash for proportioning concrete in accordance with standards and regulations, the binders' conditions of use according to NS-EN 206+NA and N400. NS-EN 206+NA and N400, as well as the binders' conditions of use for self-drying concrete according to. NB15. In addition, transport distances for fly ash and cement are shown for use in the preparation of EPDs.
Documentation/acceptance of extended conditions of use can be downloaded to the right of the page.
1) Calculated without the alkalis from the fly ash (according to NB21 pt.4.4 and use of a general alkali limit of 2.5 kg Na2O equiv./m3 concrete) 2) There are alkalis in the fly ash, but alkalis from any added fly ash in the concrete do not need to be taken into account according to NB21 section 4.4. NB21 pt. 4.4. 3) There is no published EPD for fly ash, a generic EPD is used in the EDP generator for concrete (lca.no).
The cements' data sheets, product information, DOPs and EPDs are available here. An overview of declared values for the cements is available here (in Norwegian). Product information and safety data sheets for the fly ash are available here.

1) k-value 1.0 for fly ash applies to the fly ash types: Vattenfall Moorburg Germany, Eemshaven Netherlands, Medcem Turkey, Eko Zec Gdynia Poland, Eko Zec Polaneic Poland, Isken Sugozu EP Power Minerals Turkey, Atlas EP Power Minerals Turkey. For other types of fly ash the k-value is 0.7. 2)The requirements for maximum percentage of fly ash apply when using a k-value of 1.0 for fly ash (when using a k-value of 0.7, the conditions of use in NS-EN 206+NA apply). 3)The requirements for minimum silica content apply when using k-value 1.0 for fly ash, since these proportions were used in the documentation mixtures (when using k-value 0.7, there are no requirements for minimum silica content, ref. NS-EN 206+NA). 4) In SuR1 and SuR2, the 6% limestone filler content in the cement must be reduced to a maximum of 5% in the binder by using a sufficient amount of silica/fly ash. 5) Excellent frost resistance has been documented with up to 43% fly ash and silica for concrete with a mass ratio of 0.45, and which is exposed to frost in combination with fresh water, see Sintef report 9027-37D. However, the concrete is not frost-resistant according to the definition in NS-EN 206+NA (frost in combination with salt water). The use of concrete with a higher fly ash content than that given for the MF classes in the table, therefore requires developer approval for each individual project.
Kontrollrådet's acceptance letter on extended conditions of use for fly ash cements is available here. Sintef report 9027-37D on documentation of frost resistance is available here.

Transport distances for fly ash and cement to be used in the EPD generator
Transport distances for fly ash by boat to Norway to be used in the EPD generator in 2025 are based on historical data from 2024, see Table 13. Table 14 shows previous years' transport distances. The distances have increased in recent years due to larger volume share of fly ash from Turkey. In 2024, 100% of the volume was from Turkey.
