Conditions of use

Conditions of use for fly ash as an additive material in concrete are given in NS-EN 206 point NA 5.2.5.2.2 and Process code 2 process 84.4. Added fly ash can be included in the calculation of mass ratios and the least effective binder for all our cements. In accordance with NB21 section 4.4, fly ash can be added without the alkali content being included in the calculation of the total alkali content in the concrete.

We have been given extended terms of use in accordance with NS-EN 206 + NA for fly ash from several different suppliers, this fly ash goes under the name «Fly ash Type A Extended». See revised acceptance letter fly box from Medcem (can be downloaded - see right column)

More and more power plants in Europe are closing. The supply of fly ash has therefore been reduced, and the supply can vary greatly throughout the year. This means that there may be periods when only fly ash from other suppliers is available. The extended conditions of use in the acceptance letter from the Control Council cannot be used for these fly boxes, which go under the name «Flight box Type A». See ordinary conditions of use according to NS-EN 206 + NA and Process Code 2.

Fly ash is a processed residual product from coal used in coal power plants and is used in cement and as an additive material in concrete, both for environmental and technical reasons. The fly ash contributes, among other things, to reduced CO2 emissions, it makes the concrete denser and contributes to reduced heat generation and thus reduced risk of cracks in solid structures.
